If a piece of jewelry is pure sterling silver in 0925, should not you be able to clean and polish and more?
yet? I have a "Sterling Silver necklace I wear a lot, even in hot weather. I have a good cleaner for him. The first 3 or 4 times I cleaned it again look and shine. Now when I clean, it still looks sad. It feels like getting duller and duller each time I clean. Is not that say it's plated? Should not be sterling silver able to look each time you clean it with the right product (I use)?
Yes it should. Was it plated? You can get "silver plated 925" is a misleading way of selling a metal base plated sterling silver. This plating will disappear leaving the metal underneath. If it is stamped 925, however, it should be in sterling silver and as such that there may be a problem with the cleaning. I think the best way to clean silver (unless it is oxidized or tarnished) is a silver polishing cloth.
