Because I really do not want to have to go out in public (= disgusting germs!) when i fly to Italy this weekend! thank you guys! xoxox Does anyone have personal experience to prove your answer one way or the other?
For the purpose of expediting the process control security, remove your belly button ring and put it in your hand luggage before going through the metal detector. You can put again once you get through security. It would most likely not trigger metal detectors, but the detection of security levels metal are unpredictable. People who do not take their jewelry are the people who cause security line delays, sometimes including delays for drivers and crew, in turn, causing flight delays, which jam our aviation system. So please do us all a favor (that goes for everyone) and take off as many metal objects on your body and place them in your baggage, you can then place these items back on your body. Happy flying!
