What would I need to make fine jewelry, where can I buy?
Ok, I decided to invest time and money in jewelry manufacturing and give it a go. Thing is that I have been looking on ebay and all channels and results appear to be in gold or silver. I need quality products like sterling silver or gold? How many people use actuallty plated stuff? How long does it last? What is the name of the thread / yarn / string I need to make jewelry with genuine pearls, pearls of good quality etc. .. I have designs ready, and even if they dont sell, its still a hobby, but I do not want them to be made as products in the bottom that comes out of China …
If you want solid gold or silver, it will be expensive. Buy Bead & Button and see the supplier list at the back. Wire and cable I use for strings are nylon and tail of the tiger. I prefer nylon because tiger tail occasionally stain beads. They sometimes fall not as nice and collar will be distorted if the owner of the collar fabric in a bag or something. I use plated things because it is not easy selling solid gold (money is good, but I use it for my expensive parts to research). Plated things may last a year.
