The piece was included in a jewelry box.
You can try acetone, 100% pure substance in a hardware store, no nail polish remover. You might have to leave it in a while, then put coins in distilled water and air dry. Acetone is good to remove all types of glues including the most modern. Poly can be difficult to remove, but I know that acetone will not harm the piece.
