Hello – Is it possible for me to know the difference between genuine stones and rhinestones without special tools?
I can not tell the difference between true verses Zircon, rhinestones, etc. I have a lot of old jewelry prices – some for sale and some store and transmit as family heirlooms. Furthermore stones, I can not tell the difference between genuine and fake pearls. I also find it difficult to tell real silver and gold, besides other metals. Some parts have the manufacturer's mark and in those cases, I can usually find what I have. Unfortunately, most of my pieces are not marked. Any help would be much appreciated!
I know that a real diamond will cut glass, but rhinestones and CZ will not. You really should take the jewelry to a jeweler and have them verify its authenticity.
