What are the basics I need as a beginner in jewelry making?
Not "beading," but the ears for real money creativity, etc. …. What tools or books that you can suggest for me? I am very new to this. Thank you
There is something on the market today called Precious Metal Clay. One silver is not too terribly expensive. They have a low temperature firing, too. I get most of my supplies (I use mostly wire, and perhaps thin sheet of metal) from the supply Santa Fe Jewelers to www.sfjssantafe.com. Their prices are excellent and their customer service is excellent. You can get the thread through all thicknesses (gauges, the more the smaller the wire) and materials. Of course, getting sterling silver. Also, I recommend silver and even red brass wire – these are inexpensive "Practice" son for most of us. You can get sheets of metal just like you, too, I recommend a little practice in supplies that, too. I even sell some of my stuff in red brass because it's a pretty color. Go search their site. They are a wholesaler, but you not need a resale license to shop there. The site is set up mainly for those who know what they want. Click the "metals" link under "Online Catalog" in the upper left quadrant of the screen. This is a good place to start.
