Silver Jewelry Oxidation

silver jewelry oxidation
What is the chemical equation for the oxidation reaction between the silver and potassium polysulfide?

although potassium more than one polysulfide, what are their recation with money? Can I control the color change produced on the surface of silver controls (for example) Ph? I want to stop the reaction when the money becomes iridescent blue and purple for consistency between pieces (I am a former chemist jewelry!) without trial and error that I currently rely on!

///// The following applies to copper and bronze, but likley work as much money, too. A. Ammonium sulfide process with a sponge or pad fairly well drained, sampling on a thin film of a solution containing 5% to 10% by volume of polysulfide (dark) and water. Rinse thoroughly. Followed this film with a heavy slightly by a 5% solution of copper sulfate in water or a 0.5% solution of sulfuric acid in water. Apply by dabbing with a sponge or pad. Do not contaminate solutions using the same sponge to apply both. Rinse thoroughly. Tone by rubbing in the grain with an abrasive pad thin (eg, Scotch-Brite) wet. Remove residual solution, wiping with a clean damp cloth or sponge and dry. Repeat until the desired depth of color is achieved. Alternatively, small objects can be immersed in copper sulfate solutions ammonium polysulfide. B. Process of potassium sulphide A gallon of white water of 1.5% (2 ounces oxalic acid in 1 gallon of tap water). Sandy beach. Potassium sulphide (liver of sulfur) mixed with tap water (1 / 4 lb liver of sulfur to 1 gallon of water). Clean the metal. Wipe the solution of potassium sulphide using a clean white virgin in the grain of the metal. Wash with a clean white towel soaked in white water. Apply the sandy beach with another clean damp towel up against the same color. This procedure is followed until a color statuary medium is reached. It can be repeated several times before uniformity appears. After uniform color is reached, neutralize action with a wash water. C. Other processes / procedures for cleaning with pumice (0, 1 / 2) on a clean cloth dampened with a 10% -20% solution of oxalic acid and water. Wipe off with a clean soft cloth Apply the 5%-l% 0 solution of potassium sulphide or ammonium sulphide using another soft cloth soaked in the solution and wrung dry. Follow all wet with a wipe of living water (about 2 oz, sulfuric or nitric acid oxalic acid in 1 gallon of water) using a clean soft cloth wrung out. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for a slightly higher color depth darker than the desired shade. Relieve the surface by rubbing with fine sand beach on a clean damp cloth until the desired color is reached. Rinse and dry.
